2015 SRA-West Season Begins!

Hello SRA-West members, family, fans, and friends! The long wait is over and the Formula Sidecar Series is taking off to a serious running start in just a few weeks. As people can see from our calendar, rounds one and two are rapid-fire. AHRMA will sweep through the west coast and they are bringing sidecars aboard for the adventure. Round 1 happens April 25-26 for the SRA-West but as usual there is an optional all-day or half-day practice on Friday (April 24). Round 2 will be on a Thursday-Friday prior to the AFM races that weekend, making it a true 2-day event with no optional practice day beforehand.

There are four different helmet certifications accepted by AHRMA, with the Snell 2010 standard being the most easily found for sale in the US. A new rule for date of manufacture is taking effect and teams should immediately take note that helmets older than 60 months are not acceptable by AHRMA standards beginning this year. There is little time to act before the season begins so take note of your helmet’s manufacture date and respond accordingly.

Racers should also take advantage of significant savings for pre-entry which can be done online or by mail/fax/email. The cut-off date for pre-entry is April 17 and April 10 respectively. The cut-off date is the same for both rounds 1 and 2. Entry information is available on their website. AHRMA does not have license reciprocity with the SRA-West and so an AHRMA membership is required as well as entry fees. SRA-West membership is available by mail or in person for drivers, passengers and associates. Full membership is required for points and voting eligibility. The price remains $100/year for full members and $25/event for single-event licenses. Host club liability waivers are meant to shield the SRA-West as well as the host, so please read them carefully.

We will have some excellent announcements at round 2 so please attend both events if possible. If you are unable to attend round 2, please email info@formulasidecars.com after May 2nd to get up-to-date information on new happenings in the club.
